Helpful tips when packing yourself
Heavy items (such as books, cds, videos, files) — need to go into smaller boxes.

Light items (linen, clothes, lampshades etc.) — can be packed into large boxes

China and glass (ornaments, crockery and pictures) — heavier items at the bottom of the box, and lighter at the top.

We can supply wrapping paper and bubble wrap for all of your fragile items.

Plates, bowls, pans, ornaments etc — these items require the most care to minimise damage, crockery in general must be stood on its strongest edge in the box. Plates and bowls etc, sat on their side in the box, then smaller and lighter items such as cups and glasses, cutlery etc.

Pictures also must always be stood on their side. The weight of the glass itself can cause It to crack when layed down flat. Any that are too big for your boxes can be left until moving day, when our men will come and wrap them in blankets ready for transit.

Hanging garments — These can be wrapped with bin liners over the coat hangers or if you like we can order special cardboard wardrobes. These have to be ordered in advance and there will be a charge for these.

Its always a good idea to leave the kettle unpacked. We all know that moving can be very stressful and all the lifting is hard work. So refreshments can help to take the strain off.
